  Peppered Fresh Figs

Make the most of the fresh figs available.
There are so many ways to enjoy them as sweets or savoury.
If fresh are not available you can use dried figs for this recipe.

 



PEPPERED FRESH FIGS

 

100gms fresh figs

50mls of your favorite honey

50mls balsamic vinegar

5gms black pepper, cracked

1 cinnamon quill

1 small bay leaf

3 cloves

Water to cover

METHOD:

Cut figs in half.

Add to honey, balsamic vinegar, black pepper, cinnamon quill, bay leaf, and cloves in a saucepan.

Add water and bring to the boil.

Reduce to a simmer, cover and cook gently until tender.

Preserve in a sterilized jar.

Using fresh figs the simmer time will be approx 20 mins
using dried figs soak in water over night and simmer for approx 30 mins until tender.

Great served on top of grilled haloumi cheese.
