Not a bad quaffer for the Grand Final season. The colour is good and the nose has nice fennel/licorice aromas with a little blackberry. Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais-Village

Vineyard: Beaujolais, Southern Burgundy, France.

Tasting Notes:
The Beaujolais region, although part of Burgundy, is very distinct on many accounts. This is where the Gamay grape is most popular and it thrives in the pink granite soil. Unlike most grape varieties, the Gamay grows without wires, with each plant growing independently. Maison Joseph Drouhin has always been involved with the Beaujolais region and was the pioneer of Beaujolais Nouveau in the early fifties.

On the palate, it has a silky smoothness, and its delicious fruit lingers for a long time. Beaujolais Villages is very versatile with all kinds of food, especially simple and flavoursome dishes such as charcuterie and white meats.
