BASTILLE DAY
Wednesday 14th July
221 years ago, on July 14th 1789, the Republican people of Paris stormed the mighty prison of Bastille, as a symbol of liberty and the fight against oppression. After suffering from a harsh social hierarchy for hundreds of years and when the biting truth of starvation became too much to bear, a bloodthirsty mob rose up in a frenzied recall of justice and equity. This rebellion marked the end of the French Monarchy and was the birth of a Sovereign Nation. The Republicans stood for the Tricolore and it’s three ideals: Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.
Today, the Tricolore still flies strong. To commemorate the anniversary of this great Revolution, La Cigale invites you to our Bastille Day celebrations. Join us for lunch – we will have a set menu for $25 per person or choose from our Market Kitchen.
